In Vietnam, Dr. Thu Bui was raised Buddhist, but later converted to Catholicism against the will of his parents. He eventually became one of the first members of Holy Martyrs of Vietnam Parish in Arlington, the first Vietnamese Catholic Parish in the U.S.
